In 1993, Dan Lacksman produced the album "DEEP FOREST"
(Sony) wich became a huge hit worldwide (double platinum
in Australia, platinum in USA, and golden record in countries
like France, U.K.,Norway, and still selling very well
worldwide).
Dan started working in the music business in 1969 as a
tape-operator and shortly later, as sound engineer in
studio Madeleine, in Brussels. He soon became captivated
by synthesizers, and bought his first synth (the first
one in Belgium) in 1970. It was a EMS
VCS 3, and Dan still owns it : it is part of the large
collection of vintage analog synthesizers still available
today in Synsound studios.
As composer and artist, he had several international hit
records in the seventies, and was working as synthesizer
specialist in Belgian and European studios, working with
a lot of famous artists like PATRICK HERNANDEZ (17 million
records sold with "Born to be aliveî), PLASTIC
BERTRAND and THIJS VAN LEER, from the band FOCUS.
In 1978, he founded the avant-garde techno band TELEX
together with MARC MOULIN and MICHEL MOERS. They were
released on SIRE Records in the USA and had some international
hits like "Moskow Diskow", "Spike Jones"
and "Peanuts".
In 1979, he coproduced with Marc Moulin LIO's first album,
and her first multi-million selling single, "Le Banana
Split".
In 1980, he founded SYNSOUND studio I in Brussels, and
has worked there with a lot of Belgian and international
artists like SPARKS, ALAIN CHAMFORT, ETIENNE DAHO, HARUOMI
HOSONO from YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA. In 1983, he recorded
THOMAS DOLBY's second album, "The Flat Earth".
In 1990, he coproduced with SACHA CHATY, and engineered
two albums of French female vocalist, SARA MANDIANO, wich
included her biggest hit "J'ai des doutes".
He also co-produced and engineered for the German label
METRONOME, CAMOUFLAGE's albums "Methods of Silence"
and "Bodega Bohemia". A lot of famous Belgian
artists like Will TURA, CLOUSEAU, ARNO, MARIE DAULNE (ZAP
MAMA) came to SYNSOUND to work with Dan.
In march 1995, Dan opened the second SYNSOUND studio in
an old brewery close to studio I, the two studios form
a complex with private parking. The new studio's acoustics
were designed by the famous ANDY MUNRO (more than 200
studio designs including the new AIR studios of GEORGE
MARTIN in London). The studio has a 48 track digital SONY
PCM 3348 and an SSL G+ 4056 mixing desk with Ultimation
in its equipment, as well as a Pro Tools 24 Mix Plus.
The new studio has already accomodated famous artists
like MAURANE , K'S CHOICE, ARNO, MARIE DAULNE (ZAP MAMA),
YOUSSOU N'DOUR, ALAIN CHAMFORT, EROS RAMAZZOTTI,.HOOVERPHONIC,
WILL TURA, ALEC MANSION (new album), FREDERIC FRANCOIS
(new album), LUC STEENO (new album) |
